(379 posts)Is to get all those youth to make sure that their friends who may now qualify due to birthday to get registered to vote. They will be even bigger heroes if they bring home the senate.

(45,806 posts)raised in Pgh. Pa. & my job transferred my family & I to the South in 1987. I've always voted for the Dems & have been disappointed every time. Last Sat. my son was visiting & he was telling me how damn cold it was when he voted the day before. I told him I was happy he took the time to vote. He smiiled & said "For what ever good it did in THIS STATE!" I toldd him he might be surprised this year. I meant that but I didn't believe Ga. would actually vote blue. I thought it would be a much closer race than usual. So I'm very happily surprised. Thanks everybody for your votes for Joe & Kamala!

(778 posts)To all of those fine young people who did the right thing! Georgia is my neighbor and I was so proud for you and want to thank all of you! It sounds like Stacey Abrams contributed so much to this. I wish my own race and my own state would have done the same thing.

With a record turnout by young people in the general election, now is the time for all high school seniors and recent graduates to register to vote if they will be 18 by the runoff election on January 5, 2021.
Young people are allowed to pre-register to vote in Georgia if they are 17-1/2, and those who are pre-registered are eligible to vote as soon as they turn 18. In this case, the next election for many of these young people will be the January U.S. Senate runoff.
Dont let confusing language in the Georgia election code or the Georgia constitution fool you into thinking that young people cannot vote in the runoff if they were not already 18 and registered in time for the general election.
