Judicial Watch threatens suit over voter rolls in 10 Georgia counties
ALBANY Judicial Watch is threatening to sue Georgias elections office over what the conservative organization contends is over-registration of voters in 10 counties, including Lee County.
Lee County Elections Supervisor Veronica Johnson, however, says her office is properly maintaining the integrity of the countys voter rolls and that the countys list of eligible registered voters is accurate. She also said that the 2010 census, which local officials have contended undercounted Lee Countys population, may be part of the issue.
I can promise you that every voter in Lee County strictly followed the guidelines of the Georgia law and all the directives given to us by the Secretary of States Elections Division, Johnson said. We take protecting the voter registration laws very seriously.
We do the maintenance were supposed to do. We require everything were supposed to require for voter registration, and certainly on election day we follow all the state laws. We do take our job very seriously here.
