(116,749 posts)I know that you are aware of my devotion of reporting the news. Most of the articles wouldn't appear on DU otherwise.

(116,749 posts)I review close to 600 publications over a four to five day cycle. In addition to the media outlets in each state, I also post articles from outside each state.
By redirecting the links to my site I have the ability to use the analytic tools available as an administrator in order to determine how to tailor the coverage for the people reading the articles. Those analytic tools are not available to me on DU, nor are they available if I redirect to the original source. Also, the audience on the site includes DUers as well as others that are not members on DU so I would need to merge data to determine how many people are viewing each article. It becomes even more difficult because there are slight differences in the titles depending which site it is posted so trying to group and sum the data become even more difficult.
I am not making any revenue from the site and everyone can visit either as a guest or if they want to comment they join as a member. People are free to choose whether they want to click the links. If you want to read the information, then the small price that I ask is to be able to collect the metadata so that I can improve the product. Otherwise, the articles can be through a search engine. I'll let you decide what works best for you. Thanks.
