So... what happened in our home state of Florida? Why was Democratic turnout so unusually low?

Why did every single Democratic stronghold fail? None of the strongholds ran up their numbers for Democrats as they usually would.

It was abysmal. I stayed up all night looking at election coverage. I couldn't stop thinking about these two races for governor and senator. DeSantis and Rubio didn't exactly overperform but rather Democrats underperformed significantly. I wasn't exactly expecting an all-out win but I expected a closer race than we got.

The floor for Democratic vote count should have been at least 4 million and we got nowhere near that amount. We just barely scraped past 3 million votes. A significant chunk of Democratic voters in those strongholds that is crucial for Dems just did not bother to turn out.

Where did all these people go? Of all the shocks of the night, this really took me by surprise.

There’s a reason Deathsentence didn’t want the feds observing the polls in Florida.

Yes, you have a lot of racist, covid-loving dummies there in floriduh, but DeathSantis is monkeying around with that state too in some way. It'll surface once he tries to run for potus, and doesn't make it. Women outside of floriduh for the most part won't let him monkey around with their bodies and are not fetus loving like he is, and young people will give deathssantis the middle finger, plus I feel that he'll be in trouble as well eventually with his crooked ass.

Ken Blackwell fucked up Ohio, but I think that he's been gone lone enough to where Ohio is just a dumb ass state now, all on it's own. I feel sorry for friends having to live there with fetus loving dummies, crazy opiod addicts and with JD Vance as governor.

a much tighter race than it actually was.

3 million votes for a Democrat in Florida is pathetic. No Democrat has gotten less than 4 million votes statewide in the last decade.

Hispanic supporters seem to have really fallen to the GOP bull. Whether it is Biden will bring socialism/communism or whether it is GOP is closer to GOD (as in TX), there is an element of betrayal by some Hispanic previously-Dem supporters. TX has Uvalde and they keep voting Dem. Florida had gun violence and GOP vote increased. Bill Maher said, Hispanics voted for Trump in 2016. So, Trump insulted them more and Hispanic vote for Trump increased in 2020. In other words, Dems should drop TX and FL for good and focus on AZ, NC. Ohio is dead as well. Union DEm voters in Ohio have been hoodwinked by Trumpists for good.

It used to be a swing state, now it's dead-red. Maybe Democrats have just given up?

I fled the state in 2005 because it was too damned conservative for me. It's gotten nothing but redder and dumber since.

Florida is where all the northern and mid-western right-wing idiots run out of road on their way south. It's a target rich environment for conmen.

I'm a proponent of running everywhere, where the chances of winning for perceptibly low because you just never know. You may come out with a surprise win. If the home team has given up, then Democrats really have zero hope of ever winning in Florida again.

Florida has become a right-wing hellscape. I used to enjoy going there, visiting family and friends, exploring places I hadn't been, but no more. I can't overlook the hate and stupidity anymore.

"If you don't vote, you get the government you deserve" It's hard enough with the gerrymandering, voter suppression and lobbyists and a fascist wanna be gov.
Add apathy and you have a gov't like Florida..

In the last five years and 90 percent vote Republican. That's it in a nutshell. We had our chance in 2018 with Gwen Graham and let an idiot named Geoff Green and a terrible candidate named Andrew Gillum screw it all up.

...rallys for women, MLK parades, the environment, gay rights, gun control, etc. go on all the time. Thousands of people on the streets. Petitions too.

Even the GOP in Florida vote for referendums for class size, treatment of pigs, and high-speed trains.

You cannot get people in Florida to VOTE! Half the eligible voters simply don't show up: young don't vote, minority don't vote, gun victims don't vote, you name it.

I'm really pissed at people who don't vote!

The only consistent voters are the Villages, wealthy suburbs, racists, money launderers, and health care CEOs.
