I've been getting

two, sometimes 3 flyers EVERY DAY about a rent control referendum in Orange County.

They are from a realtors group that is very dead set against it.

And because realtors are fighting it tooth and nail, I'm inclined to vote for it's implementation, because - you know - Realtors.

But I don't really have any basis outside of my loathing for the people who are trying to pave over the entire peninsula.

Does anyone here have an idea what this is all about?

I know that a lot of corporations are buying out all of the single home houses. We get 5 calls a day from people trying to buy my mothers rental property in another state. The house is not for sale, not listed, and it is driving us crazy. But it seems like there is a huge push for big corporations to buy houses (which they turn into rental properties and raise the rents!) It is getting more difficult for real people to buy houses any more.

Therefore, IF the proposition or whatever it is that you are getting flyers on, if it is AGAINST big corporations buying houses, I can see why the realtors might be FOR it, but again, would totally depend on the details of whatever bill etc. is being pushed. I would be for it too, I don't like the corporate buy out of so much real estate. It pushes UP the prices for everyone.
