I’m getting really frustrated because I know these morons will return these morons to office every goddamn time. Soon they will be campaigning on how serious and how many crimes they have committed

Why would you hire a private contractor to send out the checks when you already have a payroll department?

I hope they know who runs the private company and where they can be located. They may have already snuck out of the country.

Just starve those departments that pay out money but don't collect it. Why do you think some states had so much difficulty paying out unemployment benefits? And private industry does the same thing, if you have less folks to manage paying bills and expenses, less money goes out of your pocket.

Bonus if you can find some close colleagues to do the work (and get paid more) because you've understaffed you government bureau or obscured and gummed up things because your software is 30 years out of date.

Penny wise, pound foolish.

Is it the same company Rick Scott used to set up the unemployment system? You know. The one they recently hired to take care of the Social Security or Medicare or whatever in our state? Rewarding a company for doing a terrible job is probably not the best idea. SMH

TALLAHASSEE — When dozens of Florida teachers tried to cash their state-issued $1,000 bonus checks this week, they got a startling response: “insufficient funds.”

No, the State of Florida hasn’t run out of money. Instead, the bad checks are being blamed on a “banking error” by JPMorgan Chase.

The bounced checks were the latest glitch over DeSantis’ handling of $1,000 bonuses to teachers, principals and first responders, money that came from federal COVID relief funding.

Instead of sending the money to school districts to distribute, like in the past, DeSantis’ administration decided to issue the checks individually, with an accompanying letter signed by DeSantis. The state paid a private contractor $3.6 million to print and send the checks. That led some lawmakers and the union representing school teachers to accuse DeSantis of using the bonuses to score political points.
