(2,701 posts)So maybe the counties with high test rates, and anti-deficit Republican leadership need to see the costs they are creating with the anti-mask and anti-vaccine rhetoric and Executive Orders and mandates.

ps,
I'm just going to throw in what might seem like a non sequitur. All this COVID bullshit does not ever overshadow the deep outrage that I feel against our conservatives and Republicans and their media outlets concerning not only the refusal to acknowledge our violent and racist history but are continuing the violence against people of color and people of non Christian religions.
The violence against African Americans in particular haunts me every time I read any day's news offerings, because I know I will read of another purely race based attack or death.
But that is what keeps me wanting to stay in the fight so to speak, because I know it can be overcome and for that to happen we cannot surrender.

(16,270 posts)modeled what this spike in cases in FL would end up looking like. I saw it somewhere on DU...
In any case, their model had a big range of possible outcomes and I don't recall the exact figures given for peak daily cases, but I remember noting to myself that the midpoint of the range was in the high fifty-thousands.
So if their model holds up, there is a possible doubling in daily cases still to come.

(52,250 posts)I read today that FL could be closed at the borders to limit entry into the state. I doubt their loser governor would allow that though. If it looks like the high 50s that may become a reality.

(778 posts)I haven't read about that yet, but if I was from out-of-state, I definitely wouldn't want to come to our covid infested state.
Just a couple of days ago I was wondering how soon we would hit the 25,000 new cases per day mark and last night I checked worldometer, like you must do also, and I saw that number. We zoomed right past my prediction. And the emperor fiddled.
