Florida
Related: About this forumAnother morning of getting up early so my wife and I could watch the
fucking screen on the Publix vaccine website refresh for about an hour until Pinellas was fully booked. They no longer say how many shots are available, instead they show a percentage of the the appointments remaining available in each county.
The Pinellas County Health Department has gone from having stampedes to having a line. My wife and I are both signed up to be contacted for appointments, along with 60,000 other people.
What a shit show.

(18,161 posts)They are getting the vaccines. Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, my local Kroger Pharmacy now has it.
Three in my family got theirs at Walgreens yesterday. I received my second from my MYCHART at my Hospital. They notified me 3 weeks ago. Check around, other sources.

(5,627 posts)We did that all month. So very frustrating! But hang in. I was fed up too last week and said it would be my last frustrating try at Publix. Lo and behold, after half an hour, my appointment choice popped up and I registered. Be sure to go to bottom where it says "book another appointment". You can add a spouse or friend name. So hubby and I got our shot this week.
It went very fast and efficiently. No lines of people. Very well set up. Good luck!

(9,103 posts)...my wife and I drove across the bridges and got both shots. My 90+ neighbor's son just drove him to Ocala. It seems like the state DOH only received a small portion of vaccine. Private hospital chains and Publix got the most, since they donated to the repubs.
Of course it will get better, because Biden will distribute to many more locations (drug stores, box stores, public sites, etc.), but it will take a few weeks.

(8,209 posts)The good news and the bad news are the same news. Publix got more doses and have added Mondays to the usual Wednesday and Friday floggings.

(30,288 posts)it may be just more floggings.

(778 posts)I haven't spent an extensive amount of time since other things got in the way, but I plan on hitting it really hard next week. At this point, I don't see any distribution to Walgreens, but Publix is sure getting their share since they are a huge Republican contributor.
Did you see the news with hundreds of cars lined up in Hillsborough County? I can't believe DeSatan thinks everything is going well here and the federal government should stay out of it and just get more vaccines to them. Had I been one of the people who got my first shot and was told to come back in 21 days and it was written on the back of my card, I would have trusted that it is a regular appointment. Walmart also screwed things up by allowing non-seniors to sign up for the vaccinations and their excuse is that they had pre-existing conditions, but those are already allotted to the hospital and they are going by recommendations from the doctors as to who should get one. They just took more away from the seniors.

(8,209 posts)The good news: it was done by 7:50. They added the extra day but I don't think they have 50% more vaccine available so there will be fewer appointments available each time. Our time has no value to them...
One hiccup. My wife's computer kept her stuck in the South Carolina Publix page that we were shuttled to during the pre-7 am waiting period. Her phone and all 3 of my devices were redirected and successfully logged into the Florida site when it opened up.
