Related: About this forumAnother waste of time. I logged on to the Publix vaccine website
promptly at 7 a.m. to attempt to get one of 4,150 vaccine appointments. At 8:21 a.m., Duke Energy, the power company from hell, decided to interrupt the power to the house for a second. Of course the connection to the website was broken and I had to wait for the router to bring back the Internet before I could assume a place at the end of the line. At 8:43 a.m. my county (Pinellas) was fully booked. My wife went through the same crap on another computer in a different room. We get to try again on Friday. There has got to be a better way to schedule appointments than these twice weekly early morning stampedes.

(24,903 posts)My parents were only able to get appointments at our local hospital because a friend of mine who is a nurse tipped me off to exactly when the appointment line would be opened. It's the same experience trying to get vaccinated in the health care system here than it is at Publix.
I've resigned myself to being vaccinated some time in early 2022.

(24,149 posts)I put my name on the list for vaccines through the state run site over a month ago. Last week they called to set up my appt. When I got there this morning, they didn't have my name and refused to vaccinate me even though there was almost no line. So they hire ignorant folks for the appt. making, they make typos and I can't get vaccinated. Cant get into the Publix site, sat here for over an hour trying. Yet the rich are having no issues getting their shots, it's just the regular seniors who are getting fucked.

(24,149 posts)Publix and Walmart are supposed to be opening, but couldn't get through on those sites either. I have heard of some people signing into rich St. Johns County Publix locations where it's easier to get through and actually get a vaccine. I will work on this for a few more days to get vaccinated locally, but will be going to St. Johns' County if necessary. I actually had Covid in Dec. so am probably still covered by antibodies, though with these new strains, the need has been greatly ramped up.

(14,653 posts)I stayed on as they kept on refreshing my screen every 60 sec. When I finally did get to the booking screen the only available places to get the vaccine was in the Jacksonville area..
No joy in Muddville.. Mighty Casey struck out..
I'm registered with all the places you can register for the covid injection in Fla.. Lets see what happens. I'll just keep my regiment of staying away from people, places and things that will get me sick...Oh and masks....... keep wearing masks..

(1,943 posts)In discussions on the following thread is a wealth of information concerning Publix, PublicPAC, Julie Jenkins Fancelli, and others. Fancelli, daughter of Publix' founder, paid $300,000 of the $500,000 cost of the deadly rally on January 6th. Arguments were made that Fancelli is merely an stock holding (on the board) heir, but those arguments pale in comparison to the amount of Publix' involvement in Republican efforts. Of note and pertinent to your post, DeSantis awarded Publix the administration of Florida's vaccine after he received $100,000. The resulting uproar forced a reaction, but as this is still Florida - the reaction and a solution are two different animals.

(8,209 posts)I eventually got a green light to book an appointment. I filled out my information and picked a pharmacy and time. I completed the form and clicked on the Book an Appointment button. I was notified that the appointment was already taken and I should try again. I was still logged in but had to fill out some of my information again before I could pick another pharmacy and time. I completed the process again and had the same result. At this point, all appointments in my county were taken, and I was offered opportunities in adjacent Palm Beach County. I started to pick another pharmacy and was notified that all appointments were taken before I could complete the process.
My wife had the same experience this morning- filled out the form twice and didn't get the requested appointment. I had a similar experience on a prior morning. Yeah, this process sucks.
