SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH: The DMV stays under the watch until10 p.m.,

with damaging wind and heavy rain as the main concerns. The good news? A cool-off is on the way!

(The National Capital Region portion of the Washington Metropolitan Area is also colloquially known by the abbreviation "DMV" which stands for the "District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia." The area in the region that is surrounded by Interstate 495 referred to as being "Inside the Beltway".)

Intense storms moving inside Beltway (355p Monday). Radar suggests some of the most intense storm activity around Silver Spring headed toward College Park. Also, Warrenton gusted to 67 mph at 340p. Severe tstorm warning for downtown Washington and areas just north and east until 415p.
