Related: About this forumSNOW! It has now begun in most of the region with many areas already having a coating
or so. We're on track for 1-3" before a switch to wintry mix this evening.
We recommend staying off the roads from this point forward as conditions will deteriorate next couple of hours.

(46,968 posts)Moderate, accumulating snow has spread over the entire region with a coating to an inch in most spots through 3:30 p.m.
Generally expect about 1 to 3 inches of snow before a change to sleet and freezing rain between about 5 and 8 p.m. (slightly more to the west and less near the Chesapeake Bay).
With temperatures in the 20s, snow and ice will stick to untreated roads and walkways. We advise staying off the roads this afternoon and evening if possible.
Precipitation may change to plain rain especially in the immediate area and points east after 8 or 9 p.m.
