Snow chances rise for Sunday in D.C. area; some places could see several inches.

About 1 to 4 inches is possible, although some areas could see a little more or less. A winter storm watch is in effect for the northern and western part of the region.

There are strong odds for accumulating snow and slippery travel on Sunday in the D.C. area, but exact amounts are still uncertain.

An area of storminess is predicted to form along an Arctic front that will unleash air that is so cold that Monday’s presidential inauguration is being moved indoors. But it’s uncertain how much of the cold air will have arrived Sunday as the storm comes through and how much moisture the storm will have to work with. . .

The National Blend of Models, which analyzes amounts from a large number of models, simulates 1 to 2 inches. The National Weather Service snowfall forecast is a little more aggressive, predicting about 2 to 4 inches across the region but just 1 to 2 inches in Southern Maryland and south of Fredericksburg.'>>>
