I was conflicted about sharing this. Crime is a big problem here especially carjackings, random assaults, muggings, and some gang related shootings. But Fox might be exaggerating for Fox reasons.
Think. Again.

(136,686 posts)the thing to do is register an official 'complaint.'
This OP seems to be an inquiry, looking for discussion.

I usually avoid doing that because we are here for discussion after all, but then I also realize there are some very well practiced trolls who pose as true leftwingers, and try to ease their way into introducing rightwing ideology under the guise of legitimate discussion.
It's a hard call to make most of the time.
My biggest concern is that when right-favored topics are bandied around here on DU, it could turn off other leftwing, non-member 'lurkers' from the Democratic party all together.

(47,069 posts)so I doubt many trolls play the long game. And this is our local Fox station, not Fox news. Many urban liberals are seeing an increase in crime in our neighborhoods. It's not any less valid just because RWers amplify it into attacks on Dem politicians.
Think. Again.
(18,774 posts)...All that I've seen personally are foxnews-type panic alerts over debunked crime waves and statistics that just aren't true.
I havenct seen any increase in actual crime in my own day-to-day life.

(534 posts)If the job is with in 1 mile of dc our deductible is 5k for theft, per occurrence. Outside that one mile its 2.5k and once per policy, and the premium is about 50% higher if in DC proper.
Its getting ridiculous and pricey.
edit we are an electrical contractor.
Think. Again.
(18,774 posts)...any actual theft in D.C.?

(534 posts)With the deductibles like they are it is a waste of time and would just drive our theft insurance higher. In the last 3 years probably about 50k total, a few smaller thefts a few times a year. One was someone left our mobile office unlocked during the day and they got 3k in tools, on another job sight they broke open the door to the GC's trailers ( night time ) and got us for about 5k in tools.
Lots of little thefts like stealing wire, 1k or less. One job they even hired 24 hour security for the job and the plumbers got robbed for 5k over the weekend. But one guard cant watch an 8 story building.
We are currently doing 5 mil in working class/ low income apartment buildings that are being the biggest target.
Edit to add, in our baltimore job we have had about 4k in theft in 2 incidents. The power company has been doing their work the last few days and they had about 2k stolen friday of last week.
Sorry for the reply a few days late, been a busy week.
