Unvaccinated students, staff at Broomfield High School sent home for 21 days to prevent measles outbreak

https://www.cpr.org/2026/03/03/broomfield-high-school-unvaccinated-staff-students-quarantine/

"To stop the spread of measles, dozens of unvaccinated students at one Colorado high school are being told to not attend school and stay in quarantine for at least 21 days.

This comes after Broomfield High confirmed cases in two unvaccinated students. The state has now recorded three measles cases this year. That's after recording 36 last year, which was the most the state had seen in years.

“This is a way to keep measles from becoming a huge outbreak, in our schools, in our metro area, in our counties, and in our state,” said Dr. Ned Calonge, the state's chief medical officer. “This is very contagious.”

It’s the recommended playbook put out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and also established in state law. “This is what states follow in order to prevent rapid spread of measles through the community,” Calonge said."
