(106,568 posts)from the Big Thompson Canyon yesterday--in and out of Loveland yesterday morning as the rush to get horses, livestock, and other animals out--along with their people. This came up quickly and has expanded dramatically overnight. There are some geographic impediments to flames moving too much further east to the most westernmost homes in Loveland and Fort Collins, but not insurmountable. I am in South Fort Collins right now and a truly "hikeable" distance from the voluntary evacuation zone. Keeping my eyes on updates and the truly superb Larimer County text and phone updates/alerts. (They are almost constant right now)

There are so many wildfires across the West (and Canada) right now that resources are unbelievably taxed. State and local resources get us up to a LEVEL 3 Emergency Incident Command, but this is clearly a LEVEL I (Feds will be making it so by tomorrow with more resources).
Heart-breaking... I love love love Colorado, its topography, wildlife, and beauty. I will never again be able to have a civil disagreement with a climate-denying RWer. EVER. sigh...
