You can catch Lara Downes on the KUSC 9-12 evening program. (app or streaming online)
KUSC is now Classical California, having merged with KDFC in San Francisco.

First time that L.A. and San Francisco have gotten along nicely?

They are getting along nicely since it's in their best interests to do so.

(25,794 posts)KDFC was bought and dumped by Cumulus, IIRC, went public and loosely partnered with KUSC for content (nice).
This seems to formalize things. I listened to KDFC on the FM while living in the bay area, and lately, when visiting my daughter's place. Of course, being an electronics nut all my life, I favor radio, I was almost a ham radio operator when young, but lawn mowing wasn't going to get me any nice gear beyond the Lafayette Explor-Air I built.

Not mine. It's long gone.
All that makes it to the Sierra Foothills is CapRadio via the Groveland repeater, and that's marginal.
(and the 50,000 watt A.M. oldies station from Fresno)
I am still angry as hell that Cap Radio dropped "At the Opera" with Sean Bianco after some 25 years on the air, when they had a fiscal catastrophe. Some big time embezzlement. He was on live365 for while but there weren't enough contributions to keep the program on the air. Sad. He had some great opera programs.
Older ones, before the fiscal disaster, are archived at Cap Radio

Last one was in august 2023.
Some great operas there, "on demand" since they are archived.
Internet audio streaming is low data rate. I'm listening right now.
Other favorites are WQXR chiefly for the Operavore Channel (Loves me some arias) and also WBJC in Baltimore.

Happy listening. Classical music is great medicine!
