Dew campaign takes $1K check from former volunteer who allegedly assaulted opponent's husband
Mayor candidate Pippin Dew accepted a $1000 donation on Sept. 20 from a former volunteer who allegedly assaulted the husband of a rival candidate, according to campaign finance records.
Former Vallejo City Councilmember Katy Miessner was captured on video striking the face of mayoral candidate Andrea Sorce’s husband, Slater Matzke, at a community event meant to bring awareness to public safety and promote neighborhood unity. Dew told the Times-Herald a few days later that she cut Miessner from the campaign due to the incident.
However, in Dew’s most recent campaign finance filing, the campaign accepted a one-time donation of $1000 from Miessner — the most she had donated to Dew in the entirety of the campaign. Miessner’s previous contributions were a $50 donation in March and a $100 donation in April, according to campaign finance records..
Dew and Miessner did not respond to requests for comment as of press time.
