Mayoral candidate Diana Perez (D) focusing on budget, public safety, affordable housing Election 2024

Diana Perez pledges to address Santa Maria's financial challenges, public safety, and affordable housing issues if she is elected mayor on Nov. 5, and emphasizes her commitment to balancing the city’s budget and finding creative ways to generate revenue without raising taxes.

“It’s important for any city to have a balanced budget and ensure that there are enough funds in reserve to move forward with the liabilities,” said Perez, 59.

She also stressed the importance of fair wages for local firefighters, recognizing their essential role in both fire emergencies and emergency medical services, and the critical nature of public safety.

“Public safety is on the top of the list. I will be supportive of our local police department to assure that there are no cuts,” she said.
