S.F. Mayor Breed appoints City College trustee ahead of pivotal election
One of the eight candidates for the City College of San Francisco Board of Trustees just got a helpful boost from Mayor London Breed, who on Tuesday appointed longtime political operative Luis Zamora to fill a seat suddenly vacated by Murrell Green.
Green, a trustee since 2022, had less than four months left in his term and was not running for re-election. But he stepped down quietly Tuesday and told the Chronicle he was doing it “to better care for my family.”
His departure allowed Breed to dip into the crowded field of trustee hopefuls and appoint her preferred candidate immediately to the board, allowing him to run as an incumbent.
Like Green, the new trustee is a moderate. Zamora is director of community relations and executive affairs for City Attorney David Chiu.
