(22,621 posts)for a few years now. Sleeping and defecating on the doorsteps, setting bins on fire behind restaurants. There have been tent cities set up under freeways... and fires.... they clean them up and they go to another spot. Junkies on the LA River walkways. It's a real problem. I've lived here for a few decades and this used to be a very safe area. Never used to have to worry about taking a damn walk in my neighborhood.
I'm in a "secure" building and we've been broken into and mailboxes ransacked 3 times in the past few years. Garage also has been broken into and some cars and storage areas robbed. And this is happening around the area. Some of these are probably organized criminal gangs and some are tweaked out junkies.
I don't know the solution. But it's no fun living here anymore.

(4,053 posts)North Hollywood last year and moved out here to the Palm Springs area. So glad we got out of L.A. Life overall is so much easier out here in the CA desert.

(4,053 posts)has great movie theaters and a Trader Joes. But we were just south of Victory Blvd and it's like the Daytona 500 now on that street. Just driving around that area of the valley, or over on the west side, is like driving in a Mad Max movie. No one pays attention to street signs, lights, etc. It just got to be too much and we were planning on retiring in the desert anyway. We just moved it up a year.
