A child with a confirmed case of measles may have exposed 300 people from 16 California counties to the highly infectious disease last week, health officials in El Dorado County said Friday.
The child was present at two hospitals, San Joaquin Urgent Care and the UC Davis Health Emergency Department, on March 5. People at the hospital may have been exposed during that time.

Fewer than 30 people may have been exposed at the San Joaquin urgent care clinic, said István Fazekas, public information officer for San Joaquin County Public Health Services. All those people were previously vaccinated against measles, so there was no further alarm in San Joaquin County, he said. Its not clear whether those people are included in the 300.
Health officials say anyone who was at UC Davis emergency department March 5 between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. and who has questions can contact the El Dorado County Public Health line in Placerville at (530) 621-6320 or South Lake Tahoe at (530) 573-3154. They should not go directly to the emergency department because that could increase the risk of spread, said El Dorado County Public Health Officer Dr. Matthew Minson.
