North S.F. Bay here. Wine country. I haven't seen it rain like this since New Year's Day, 2006. Rain pounded for two to three hours between 3-5 am Sunday. Still coming down. Not as heavy, but steady.
How's everybody doing?

(3,864 posts)Rainy, windy. It is an intense storm. My breezeway has standing water (leaking from the deck above, which is not waterproof, so not a big deal). Some water is coming into the garage, I had to get our TP and other dry goods (bird seed bags) up off the ground in case it gets worse.
Not complaining! We need the rain bigtime. Our internet keeps going up and down, not sure why. Our power is holding! Yay! (No power and then with generator no internet would be a bummer). But again, I'm not complaining. I have a warm home, food, my health, and my family, so I'm good!

(31,801 posts)Few weeks ago the forecast certainly sounded bleak. Drought is in no way over, but at least soils are getting a decent soak.

(1,856 posts)My yard is pretty flooded. Backyard Cats are bunkered down in wooden cat houses.
Slow drizzle right now but expected to be heavy later this afternoon or evening.

(24,790 posts)I've lived here 30 years and I've only seen this much rain in one day a few times.
We're okay, I'm amazed we havent lost our electricity, but I can tell you one thing for sure. We're not on fire. We've had two close calls with that, and been evacuated twice.

(2,884 posts)The buckets catching my roof leaks were full this morning, and there are new ones. Here is a note from a neighbor: "Yes, kids, its raining! 4.95 7am yesterday to 7 am this morning, October 24.
13.27 total for the season
which, btw is over half what we got all last year!" It is still raining, and is forecast to rain through Tuesday. Good thing I checked my ditch-outs yesterday, making sure the water got off the road.

(7,923 posts)a ride for California the last few years. Drought, fires, covid, quakes....you name it, you've had it. Take care everyone. We'll just pray the mudslides aren't too bad this time.

Y'all are getting a deluge, aren't you? Maybe it will put out those damn fires and help with the drought in general.
The heavy snow predictions for the high elevations is promising though.
Hopefully the storms will drift over to Arizona and help with their drought conditions.

Cant help noticing that after this deluge, there is nothing on the horizon. Hope we dont revert to dry weather.
