Two Elk Grove Unified School District employees are on paid administrative leave after a parent saw a Confederate battle flag displayed inside their district-issued van as the vehicle was making its rounds and reported it to district officials.
District spokesman James Tan told The Sacramento Bee that officials learned of the sighting Wednesday.
In a statement to The Bee, officials said the district immediately investigated the report, found the flag inside the vans cabin and removed it, and placed the two employees on leave.
District vehicles, like district classrooms, must be safe spaces for students and all staff, and an item such as a Confederate flag found in a district van is not tolerated, the statement read.

(9,571 posts)if they were politically-clueless white southerners who later moved to Cali. Then and now I have no sympathy for those born outside the former Confederacy found waving the Confederate Battle Flag: its not part of their heritage and they have no business displaying it.
Moreover, Id say that 21st century northerners and Midwesterners waving the CBF are not only disrespecting people of color, but also the men from their states of origin who fought and died to defeat the white-supremacist Confederate States of America.
