(222,220 posts)I got the Moderna and felt pretty awful after shot #2 both later that night and the next day, chills and I was afraid to get up because I felt woozy. So when my friend asked if it was smart to take the day off after the shot, I encouraged it. But I only know one friend who had a reaction after the Pfizer and she couldn't stay awake. Guess it depends in the individual, so it's best to take precautions.

(52,259 posts)primary care doctor about something unrelated and he told me he was knocked out for 24 hours after his 2nd Pfizer shot. It really is very different for each individual. After my 2nd shot I had the same reaction as my 1st...a sore arm for a few days and a migraine. Since I get 32 Botox injections into my scalp every 3 months the needle for the vax was a picnic in comparison. I saw my doctor for the migraines a few days after the 2nd shot and I told the doctor about my reaction. I told him that I can finally get my teeth cleaned now that I am fully vaxxed but he said to wait for more like a month and not the two weeks that we hear about. Since I waited this long I can wait longer.

(222,220 posts)Than I had. But after what I read here and speaking to people, I figured I'd have some sort of negative reaction, but I was so grateful to finally get it that I didn't mind all that much. And then I read that Dr. Fauci also got the Moderna which I thought was kinda cool - and that was the first one available to me (CVS), so I followed his advice and got the first appointment I could. I had to drive about 20 minutes to get to that CVS, but I figured I got off easy. My friend who teaches got hers early on, but she had to drive completely across the state!
I did have a sore arm too, but not nearly as much as the SHINGRIX shots I got last year. And I am so sorry that you have migraines and have to deal with Botox. Yikes, that sounds rough! I guess I am pretty lucky - and I do feel less anxious now that I'm vaccinated, not that I'm changing my behavior. Here in New York masks have been required pretty much everywhere.

(222,220 posts)Though a couple of stores that I've been to now say that if you're vaccinated, you can now enter without a mask. But who knows who is vaccinated?? I'm not taking any chances, still wear my mask when I go inside.
