Washington County Election Commission prepares for May school election

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Washington County Election Commission held its first meeting of 2025 Tuesday.

Jennifer Price, director of elections, said the commission is preparing for the next annual school election.

"Your school millage that you pay is one of the largest taxes locally that you pay. And unfortunately, we always see about a 5% voter turnout for these elections on such an important topic that impacts voters on a daily basis," Price said.

She said two school districts — Greenland and Farmington Public Schools — are seeking millage increases this year.
