Arkansas sees decrease in COVID-19 cases; state to lift curfew on restaurants, bars

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced on Tuesday that he will not be extending the 11 p.m. curfew for restaurants and bars since cases of COVID-19 in the state have decreased.

The curfew was originally put in place in November to combat the spread of the virus. During a press conference on Tuesday, Hutchinson said that the curfew was important to have during the holidays, but now the state is seeing a decrease in cases and deaths. The curfew is set to expire on Wednesday.

Hutchinson said that the state’s revenue report continues to show improvement of the economy, as daily positive COVID-19 numbers continue to decrease.

On Tuesday, the Arkansas Department of Health reported 16,665 active cases of COVID-19. The state has had 298,004 confirmed cases since March and 968 people have died from the virus.

I have a friend who owns a bar on Dickson Street in Fayetteville, and he's survived about as long as he can. Hopefully, this will save his business and others.
