URGING FOR MORE CORONAVIRUS LIMITS AS CASES RISE

Nearly 300 doctors from around Arkansas are urging Gov. Asa Hutchinson to impose new restrictions to curb a surge in coronavirus cases.

A letter from the doctors was delivered to Gov. Hutchinson Wednesday (Nov. 18) as the state's COVID-19 hospitalizations hit a new record level.

In the letter, they warned of the strain on the state's health care system.

The doctors called on Gov. Hutchinson to close bars and gyms, and to limit restaurants to takeout service only.

1. I sincerely do not understand Asa's reaction to Covid-19.

Asa is a bright guy. His reactions early in the crises seemed reasonable enough - if not inspiring. He is apparently in his last public office and has nothing to fear from the nut cases in the Arkansas General Assembly.

Why is he apparently frozen to inaction?

2. Like you, I thought Asa was staying on top of things at first.

Then he went to Washington and came back with highway money. It seemed that his whole attitude changed after that.

3. There is an uncomfortable timing relationship with the trip to Washington.

4. Asa's response is to order bars and restaurants that serve alcohol to close early.

5. Of course. Everyone knows that viruses only spread after 11:00.

Closing early will really slow the spread. 🙄
