Rep. Steve Womack, Josh Mahony win Arkansas 3rd Congressional District primaries

Rep. Steve Womack, a Republican, is running against Democrat Josh Mahony in the race to represent Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District.

Womack has represented the district in the House since 2011.

Womack won the Republican primary on May 22 with 83.8 percent of the vote; Mahony did not face a challenger in the Democratic primary.

Each House seat is up for election every two years.

The district went for President Trump, a Republican, in 2016 by a margin of 31.4 points. Trump won Arkansas by 26.9 points.

Arkansas has four House seats, all of which are held by Republicans. The state’s senators are John Boozman and Tom Cotton, both Republicans.

1. Uh, I sincerely doubt that. The last Democratic challenger, in 2010, spent

money, emailed like crazy, showed up in 100% of the district, and still lost 32.3% to Womack's 67.7%. Josh is a great guy, but has yet to mount much of a campaign.

2. Trying to spread the word around my neck of the woods

Trump support has dropped something like 20% in this area. I'm signing up to volunteer.

If the race is even close here, it will be a huge shift.
