Timmy Reid of Marshall has announced his Republican candidacy for State Representative, District 83, which covers all of Newton County and parts of Searcy, Carroll, Pope and Boone counties.
Reid's main desire is that the communities he would represent should prosper and, as representative, he will work hard to ensure exactly that.
At 52 years of age, Reid has been a lifelong resident of Searcy County. He and Theresa, his wife of 33 years, are the parents of two boys and have three wonderful grandchildren.
As a contractor and cattle farmer, Reid has experienced success through long hours and hard work. He is a member of Searcy County Cattlemen's Association and will be a strong advocate for all of agriculture. He will seek to provide an environment for entrepreneurs and the self-employed that helps them thrive. He supports the Constitution and its laws and sees the need to protect the rights of property owners.
Timmy will work hard, not only to attract more businesses that supply higher-quality and better-paying jobs for our future labor force, but he will see that our current labor pool is trained and equipped to fill those newly created positions.
"I have seen funding for services to our elderly plummet and many of our senior citizens are falling to the wayside," he said about his focus on seniors. "Our senior centers are doing a great job with available resources, but many are struggling to provide proper services and care. That's not right!"
"The only reason I am running for this office is to serve. I want to help others," he said, adding that he intends to do just that as representative.
