Little Rock assistant principal arrested in hit-and-run that injured police officer

Little Rock police say they have arrested a 35-year-old man in a Sunday hit-and-run that injured an officer and a suspect he was arresting.

Keith Hearnsberger of Little Rock surrendered shortly before 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to a news release, and was charged with two counts of second-degree battery, reckless driving, and hit and run with injury.

Hearnsberger is an assistant principal at McClellan High School, Little Rock School District spokeswoman Pamela Smith confirmed in an email. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, she said.

The 35-year was hired to his current position July 24, according to the district. He worked as a music teacher at J.A. Fair High School from August 2007 to July 2011, Smith said.
