Former Miller county treasurer accused of theft
Texarkana, Ark., police are seeking an arrest warrant for theft of property that names former Miller County treasurer Danny Lewis.
According to a motion filed Wednesday by Prosecuting Attorney Stephanie Black, an affidavit seeking a warrant for Lewis' arrest was submitted Jan. 18 to her office by the Texarkana, Ark., Police Department.
Black's motion seeks appointment of a special prosecutor in the case, citing a conflict of interest. Circuit Judge Brent Haltom granted Black's motion Wednesday and appointed the Arkansas Office of the Prosecutor Coordinator to select a special prosecutor.
Black's motion to recuse notes Lewis' past status as an elected official in Miller County and refers to a prior relationship between Black and Lewis as landlord and tenant, respectively.
