Arizona Senate to hand-count 2.1 million Maricopa ballots

PHOENIX (AP) — Republicans who control the Arizona Senate announced Thursday they now intend to do a complete recount of 2.1 million ballots in the state’s most populous county to ensure that President Joe Biden's November win was legitimate.

Senate President Karen Fann had been pushing for a “full forensic audit” of Maricopa County's election result and won a court order on Feb. 26 granting the Senate access to the ballots and tabulation machines. But she had never acknowledged until this week that she wanted a full recount, something state law doesn't allow except in narrow circumstances.

Previous documents obtained by The Associated Press showed Fann intended to recount “at least” 550,000 ballots.

The county Board of Supervisors had argued the ballots were secret and the machines need to remain secure and fought a subpoena issued by Senate Republicans.

What a waste of time, money, and resources to accomplish nothing. And of course it's a Karen who is pushing for this mess.

You should see the count difference of the entire 2.1M reflected in the total for each candidate within a pretty small margin.

Absolutely no reason to recount all 2.1M.

It's statistically virtually impossible that counting 2000 random ballots wouldn't give you a very reliable answer.

They already hand counted a random selection of two percent of the voting centers , more than 2700 votes, and 5000 early votes. The hand count matched the machine count exactly.

Exactly.

They're RePuQ's, so by and large they're morons who don't understand simple statistical principles, nor that these are inviolable when taking properly random samples.

The Arizona GOP is one of the worst state GOP organizations. Anything to keep them busy. Plus, imagine the schadenfreude overload when we see how crestfallen their faces are, when after however much money and time they spend doing SO much work, they have to announce that Biden was definitely the winner.
