This was NOT protesting. I am so angry because the neighborhoods to the south of the mall have homes owned by people of color. Homes were English is not the primary language. I know because I have lived here 62 years and volunteer at a food bank one mile from the mall. Over a decade ago this was declared a slum area so that South Scottsdale could get funds to clean up the neighborhood. I am now off to see the damage with my own eyes. Yes, this mall is one that I could never afford to shop at with the exception of the Hallmark store to get a card or Christmas ornament. Stepping off my soap box.
Edited to add: I am home. Two television crews are interviewing owners of smaller shops across the street from the mall. There is a bright side to this story. Two carpenters came with their trucks and tools. They brought wood to help cover the doors and broken windows. A Fed-Ex, a Chipotle, a Sprinkles Cupcake and a Bridal shop all had their windows and doors smashed.
