In the Donald Trump circus, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has gladly played the role of the guy who trails along behind the elephants, pushing a wheelbarrow and carrying a shovel.

When asked about the impeachment inquiry into the activities of the president Ducey called it “typical congressional behavior in this environment," and adding that it is "a shame" because "there's a lot that needs to get done."

He also said an impeachment investigation of a chief executive who has abused his office and violated his oath is “not what (lawmakers) were elected to do.”

Two words, governor: Evan Mecham
In 1988, after abusing his office and violating his oath, then-Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham, a Republican, was impeached by a Republican-controlled House and convicted by a Republican-controlled Senate.
