Television sets in many areas of the Valley, apparently serviced by Cox Communications, began displaying partially scrambled pictures just as Wednesday night's Democratic primary debate began, according to numerous reports from viewers.
About half a dozen residents in various parts of the Phoenix metro area have called The Arizona Republic to complain about strange blocks, lines, broken audio and other signal issues which began at about 6 p.m. It was affecting not only two networks broadcasting the debate, but other channels.
The readers who called lived in Peoria, north Phoenix, north Scottsdale and Sun City West. All of them said they were Cox Communications customers.
The signal issues also affected televisions in The Arizona Republic newsroom in downtown Phoenix, where Cox provides service.
