Arizona Democrats shutter Tempe field office targeted with gunfire

Arizona Democrats have closed a field office that was the target of three shootings in as many weeks.

The candidates and staffers who had been working out of the office have moved their activities to other, undisclosed locations, said Lauren Kuby, a state Senate candidate in Legislative District 8. She said there have been inquiries about finding a new location for the party's coordinated campaign, which serves several legislative districts in the southeast Valley.

The office, on Southern Avenue west of Priest Drive, has been hit by BB gun pellets and firearm rounds. The shootings all occurred late at night when no one was working at the site.

The shootings happened as concerns about violence during the current campaign cycle have escalated, highlighted by two assassination attempts on former president Donald Trump.
