'Everything that she represents, I believe in': Harris rallygoers undeterred by 105-degree heat
The sidewalk leading up to the event venue was crowded with rallygoers facing triple-digit temperatures to see Vice President Kamala Harris.
A line roughly half a mile long extended from the intersection of 48th Street and Wild Horse Pass Road to the entrance of the Rawhide Event Center. Organizers said 7,000 people attended the rally, with more than 1,000 attendees waiting in line at the busiest point.
By about 3 p.m. as the temperature hit 105 degrees, the line was split into two by campaign staffers to prevent it from spilling out onto the street.
Volunteers walked around with cases of water for rallygoers and checked to see if they needed any medical attention, although most in line were unbothered by the heat as they made their way relatively quickly through the queue.
