St Stephen's Thanksgiving and Food bank
This will be a busy morning at St. Stephen's 2310 N. 56th Street. The food bank opens at 9 and closes at noon. Photo identification and a face mask are required.
St. Stephen's is a satellite site for St. Mary's food bank. Independent of St. Mary's today Thanksgiving bags will be handed out to the first 125 people and this will start at 8:30. The bag is made of cloth and contains the fixing to make all of the side dishes found for a Thanksgiving meal. Also included is a $15 dollar gift card to Walmart. This particular day is so popular that our clients start asking in June if we will be giving the bags out again.
The last two weeks we helped over 25 families. Today it will be close to 90 based on the numbers of the last few years. We have a several more volunteers to make sure that people stay 6ft apart and that they are wearing a mask. We also have masks for those who forgot to bring their own.
