re: Photobucket. They have a 'new' plan, and want to know whether this is what I want/need:
Is 'unlimited sharing' what I want ($99/year) to post here, or is 'unlimited 3d party hosting' necessary? That's $400/year.

(36,925 posts)You don't even need an account to use it, although one is a good idea if you want convenient access to all the pictures you've posted. The editing and cataloging functions are rudimentary and you don't get many of the gee whiz features that a pay service has, but you may not use or need that anyway.

(141,926 posts)Used photobucket for years here, til their price increased. Have a 'new' camera, which makes connecting difficult.

(22,685 posts)and when my photobucket became ridiculous and made me mad I started using imgur. It took a minute or two to get it going. Yes I got their free account, and after trying a couple of times figured it out.
Faster. Free. And not making me mad.
If you want me to talk you through an upload ask me for my phone number on im and we'll have a go at it.
I learned to really love imgur. Way simpler than photobucket. The greedy bastards.

(141,926 posts)One of the great things about the old photobucket was that my 'old' samsung camera takes me DIRECT to both FB and Photobucket. My new much better Nikon does none of that, so have to figure it out. Have done the Nikon>FB, but NOT the Nikon>DU.

(130,533 posts)It's free and easy to use. I ditched Photobucket when they started charging that insane fee for 3rd party hosting (which is what posting a photo on DU would be).
