From our family trip to England, a photo:

At the time we were there, visitors to Westminster Abbey were allowed one night when they could use flash attachments on their cameras. I made it a point to be there on that night. I was using 1000 speed film and the flash was set to that film speed as well. I was thrilled to get this photo.

The photo was taken on July 13, 1983.

Hope you enjoy, dear friends!

Sadly, living 'over there' for a school year, no pics. Guess didn't have decent camera.

Learned about 'rubbings,' but don't even have any. Brass rubbings are reproductions on paper of monumental brasses or incised slabs made by laying a piece of paper over the brass and rubbing the paper with a drawing medium, usually a black wax heelball, to create a detailed negative image of the original brass.

Didn't get to Westminster; 'just' a bunch of churches and cathedrals in the Midlands, Scotland, and the continent, including Moscow (largely for ballet.)

I never travel without a camera in my hand! But that's just me.

I actually got to do a brass rubbing and that was fun. I brought it home and now it's framed in our entry.

We had a great time in England; we also got to Scotland on a 3 day trip. It was our first trip abroad!

Lucky to get to Scotland that year, and since then a few times, among my/our several trips 'over there.'

Great you have displayed a framed rubbing!
