(152,232 posts)I was there once, a couple of years ago, and at the time, it was storming! The waves were high and I could see why many houses were up on stilts.
Love the colors in your photo too! Cell phones are taking remarkably good photos these days. Yours is an example of that.

(42,770 posts)NOT summer - too hot.
I think California is gorgeous. Favorite part - Santa Ynez. Want to go more north - NE of Calistoga.
We just retired and since my husband is from Texas, he picked Galveston. So cold months here - warm in CT, my home state.
But I really like Galveston. Great fresh seafood, ocean, plus lots of history and soul. Laid back and trending liberal. New Orleans light

(152,232 posts)April is when the birds return to their nesting grounds to have their chicks. We decided to swing by Galveston as well. Andy got some terrific bird shots there, in the surf!
And we did eat extremely well! Every place had shrimp and lots of it! It was a great trip.

(42,770 posts)Perhaps it's my lack of understanding of supply chain costs, but still don't get how it's cheaper up north to get Argentinian shrimp than from the US gulf. Nor how it's cheaper to get garlic in CA from afar when it can be wagoned in from up the hill.
Sorry rambling
Never heard of High Island..will look up
