Absolutely NO you will not be putting 8’s on that guitar son do you want it to sound like anything.
Am teaching him how do a set up on Orville by Gibson les Paul I love japan guitars.
Child - but dad I was gonna do 8’s and top wrap them I think 10’s I don’t know dad
Father - son when I was a kid we used 10 to 12’s and we walked uphill both ways to the mailbox on the farm. Come on you been using 10’s on strat and other Lester’s you were this close to having me come down on you.

(1,538 posts)I use Super Slinky's, Ernie Ball makes a RPS (reinforced plain string) set of Super Slinky's and the unwrapped strings bend nicely but they feel a tad bit thicker than regular 9's. They also don't break.

8's feel like playing a severely detuned guitar.

(71,843 posts)9's on 4 electrics and 10s on 3 others
Then 11s on an old Dan Armstrong set up for slide.
On acoustic, they're all medium gauge, but the 12 string mediums are different tan the 6 strings
9's are for noodlers.
