(71,385 posts)It was The Beatles for me. Until then i was a kid taking classical piano lessons and getting interested in jazz piano.
Suddenly, the music on WLS didn't seem silly.

I identify more with the Beatles, but The Stones were a force ....

(94,953 posts)Del Shannon and Ricky Nelson, my older sister's music, when the Beatles hit the scene and within a couple years there was an explosion of really cool music as I reached my teens. The 60s were quite the time for electric music and I was riding the crest of the wave as a young teen. Before that I was studying classical voice and it was absolutely sacrilege to mix the two and that included folk and anything not made for the symphony. I rebelled and found jazz and bluegrass along the way. Now I'm older and I will sing anything that is done well structurally and sounds good. And trying to learn a stringed instrument...
