On March 9, 1966, a popular rock band made waves and recorded what would be one of their most known songs. ... That’s the date when the Beach Boys started recording the Brian Wilson and Tony Asher-written song “God Only Knows.” They released the track just two months later, in May 1966, and it marked the eighth track on the group’s album “Pet Sounds.” ... The song became a U.K. No. 2 single in 1966 and the B-side of “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” in the US.

This is my favorite Brian Wilson song. I'll start with a cover you probably haven't heard. The second cover is one I've posted before. The Fendertones are a gem.
If you've never seen it, I recommend that you watch the movie "Saved."

A lot of the videos have turned into bad links. There's not much I can do about that.
Brian Wilson went through some personal ordeals, but he does get out into public and perform from time to time. Surely the biggest omission in my record collection is "Pet Sounds." Dedicated to the memory of Dennis and Carl Wilson whose lives changed the world as we know it in a profoundly positive way. Equal dues and respect to their eldest brother Brian Wilson without whose musical & lyrical genius this national treasure wouldn't exist.
I was delighted to discover this clip myself back during August of 2013. At that time, the audio track portion was damaged to the point of being inaudible as it did nothing but make a painfully loud high-pitched squeal from beginning to end.
Considering "God only knows" is my most favorite Beach Boys song and this is the only surviving original B&W studio rendition publicly available on YouTube I knew it was my duty to restore it back to full functionality which only took a few minutes to do. As it turned out all that required was simply transcoding it again using the proper audio codec.

2 Presonus Firepods and 1 MOTU 896 audio interfaces
The 2 bass guitars and the piano were run direct.
Mixed in Logic 8 over the next 3 weeks.
Video: Recorded with 10 cameras, 9 handicams and 1 DVCam.
The video was edited using Final Cut Pro during a 1 week period.
The final video was assembled using Final Cut, Soundtrack Pro and Logic.
