Greg Reeves, the bass player went to school near me in Warren Ohio, the same school that educated Dave Grohl for a while. I remember buying that album at The Super Center. The one with a leather cover was an extra buck. I went ahead and spent the $5.

That iconic cover photo for their self titled debut album was shot by the legendary rock photographer Henry Diltz.
He regrets what he considered his biggest blunder by lining the trio up in the exact opposite order of their name. That and many more stories from behind the viewfinder can be found at his Facebook page. You won't believe how many pictures he's taken.

As an aside, every song on that first album except drums was played by Stephen Stills. The other two just lent their perfect harmonies.

Where you lived must had something in the air or water to create those talents. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Several years ago when they envisioned the project they mentioned that they were going to invite Dave for the christening party. I kind of rolled my eyes and let it go.
Fast forward six months or so and he showed up to play an acoustic show. I wonder sometimes if he did that because he's a stellar guy or if he did it to make me look like an ass. Maybe both.

A year later my friend at the local record store asked him to show for National Record Store Day. I didn't say anything, and that's good because the Foos were playing Cleveland the next night and he came riding in on his Harley. The rest of the band soon showed up and they did a short impromptu show in the empty store next door. I missed that but I was there the previous year when Joe Walsh dropped in. He's a area kid who lived nearby when he went to Kent State.. He was on campus during the shootings. We used to see The James Gang in battle of the bands shows.

What memories. Thought I was lucky living in between Chicago and Milwaukee with Alpine Valley just down the road.
