Glen Buxton, early guitarist with Alice Cooper would be 77 today (10/10)

Glen Buxton was born near me in Akron Ohio in 1947. He soon relocated to Phoenix where he worked as photographer for the school paper with one Vincent Furnier.

What followed was a high school garage band where he was the only member who could play an instrument. He gave the others some quick lessons, and the rest is history we're all aware of. Glen died after a concert at Area 51 concert club in Mason City Iowa with reunited bandmates and friends in 1997.

Buxton mentioned having some pain at the nightclub and his friends urged him to see a doctor, but Buxton replied he would wait until he got home. On October 19, his fiancée drove him to the hospital near his home in Clarion, Iowa, where he died of viral pneumonia. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, Iowa.

I could play a song that everyone knows, but instead here's a tribute to the man who's guitar licks are burned into head from my formative years. I was 18 when I first heard that song he co-wrote, and I like it.. RIP Glen.
