It's funny how much the intent of that song has been misinterpreted over the years. TwilightZone Nov 3 #1

I mean...it's right there in the title.

It ain't a wedding song.

The fact that radio broadcasters routinely referred to it as Time Of Your Life – as opposed to Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) – gave listeners the mistaken impression that Armstrong’s lyric was a cosy reflection on past glories. In fact, the song was a bitter rebuke to a former lover. “It’s about an ex-girlfriend who had moved to Ecuador,” the singer told Guitar World. “In the song, I tried to be level-headed about her leaving, even though I was completely pissed off. So I named it ‘Good Riddance’ just to express my anger.”

That one's a little more overt in the lyrics, but it's definitely in that same category of misinterpretation.

It's a stalker song! Perfect for weddings! haha

It's a break-up song!
I know it's been used at school reunions, too.
Now, I understand some people might misunderstand the lyrics, but the title of the freakin' song is Good Riddance! How the heck do they miss that?
