We met Sonny & Beownie McGhee back in the mid 70s.
It was either at Wise Fools or Kingston Mines. We did a 20 minute set before they went on.
They were both authentic blues dudes. It showed it their music. They were probably around 60 at the time. They were awful pleasant to us youngsters. (We were ⅓rd of their age.)
The song I clearly remember was their version of Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready". They opened with it. This version doesn't have it, but Brownie played some really cool slide on it when we saw them live.
I went out & bought their album the next day. (It was 2 or 3 years old by then.)
