Related: About this forum2014 Billy J. Kramer interview + his recording of Lennon-McCartney song I'm In Love + Lennon's demo
I was about to post this as another reply in mahatmakanejeeves's thread for Billy J. Kramer ( thanks for posting that! - https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034104710 ), but that's already had over a hundred views and people don't always check back to read replies. And I would like people to hear this very enjoyable interview, and Billy J. Kramer's version of this song, then John Lennon's demo. Plus the version by the Fourmost - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fourmost - that was finally released, after a decision that I understand was made by George Martin (whose decision was wrong in this case, IMO - Kramer's version was better).

(11,391 posts)I actually saw him perform the year after this interview (as part of a British Invasion tour) at a club in the DC area, and met him at the autograph signing afterwards. I've met a lot of my old favorites this way in recent years (pre-Covid anyway), and usually they are friendly and fun to meet and talk to, but once in awhile they aren't, and BJK was in the "aren't" category. I still like his songs though!

(62,144 posts)that fans and others don't know about that explains the behavior. Illness or pain or some serious worry, or maybe just exhaustion after a show (all more likely as artists get older). Here's a forum page describing him and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits as nice guys: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/hermans-hermits-any-impact-on-the-60s.299481/#post-8171731 .
I wish he'd been as pleasant when you met him.
