Yarncrafters, a question...
I finally finished up gathering up all my yarns into one place, and am amazed at what I had squirreled away all over the house.
Mr Pipi thinks I'm a yarn hoarder. I told him it's part of the knitting/crocheting experience....having a stash, I mean.
Do you all have a huge stash too? Is it bigger than mine?
Anyway, here's a photo I just took...
Three of those organizer things full (meaning not just in front of the cubbyholes, but going all the way to the back). Below them is my white bag containing knitting needles of all sizes (bamboo dp, bamboo circular, birch straight) crochet hooks (bamboo), some metal Tunisian hooks, etc.
The mesh hamper to the left contains three large cones: cotton, Egyptian linen, and chenille yarns, plus some smaller balls, and a bag full of wool that I was making a free form something-or-other with.
How's your stash?
PS...do you organize by type or by color? I tried to organize by type

I think Mr Pipi's definition of a hoarder might be different from mine.
I don't have lots of yarn but my fabric stash is extremely plentiful

10 of them to be exact, and these are big bins, which take up most of my guest bedroom. in 2007, i was re-introduced to knitting by a new knitting co-worker. i've known how to knit since i was about 11 (taught by grandma), but have taken breaks on and off over the years. after being re-introduced, i was amazed by the lovely yarn out there now, because when i first started, it was mainly acrylics. so....i bought and bought in anticipation of retirement and lots of knitting time. i may never run out, and that was the plan! i never need to purchase yarn, just grab from the stash oh, and i spin too and collect fiber for that.
i organize by type, and i have numbers on the bins and keep track of my stash that way on Ravelry.

OK, another problem I'm having...having my projects (and their associated yarn) ending up in those semi-fabric shopping bags with the handles.
Right now in the living room I have three separate bags filled with yarn I'm using. It started with one, then somehow became two, and then when I started doing diagonal scarves in addition to the afghan kit, that meant more yarn in various textures and colors.
Plus another bag in my closet holding the baby afghan I started for one of my stepdaughters but never finished because she had two miscarriages in one year.
The stuff just sort of takes over the house!
Also...what do you guys do with the stuff you make? I like making stuff for gifts, but get discouraged when the recipients don't seem all that thrilled and/or I never see them using what I made.
Although there was the beautiful fishermans cable afghan I made my daughter years ago that literally fell apart from being used so much. So now when I make her stuff she doesn't use it, afraid it will disintegrate over time with lots of usage. I tell her if it does, I will make a new one.
